The Committee
We are a voluntary committee made up of Preschool and Wraparound Care parents, who support the Rougham Acorns & Woodlands Pre-School setting – from organising fundraising events to sharing in the responsibility for the day-to-day running of Acorns & Woodlands.

We generally meet every half-term and have our AGM in October.
We are always looking for new members, so if you would like to find out more, please read on or get in touch with the Chair!

Volunteering for the Committee
Why volunteer?
Volunteering to support Rougham Acorns & Woodlands is essential in the running of the pre-school – without a supportive committee the fantastic array of events, community support and improvement to the preschool would not be able to happen! Volunteering with us gives you the chance to get involved with a wonderful setting and work alongside friendly and enthusiastic people looking to support the opportunities of our little ones in their early educational journey.
There are a variety of roles to suit all interests and availability.
Below are some of our main Named Roles, which consist of:
The Chair
This person leads the committee, arranges the meetings and agendas, oversees projects and targets, and manages the decision making of the committee. Their role also includes working with staff, including the Manager, Coordinator and Bookkeeper. Good organisational and people skills are well suited to the role, and time is often needed to be given to responsibilities outside of the committee meetings.

The Vice Chair
This person supports the Chair in their duties – helping with logistics and communications, as well as project and team management.
The Secretary
This person is responsible for collecting and distributing all paperwork relating to committee meetings, as well as writing and distributing the minutes of each meeting. This person works closely with the Coordinator.

The Treasurer
This person is responsible for overseeing the financial position of the setting by working closely with the Bookkeeper and aiding them wherever possible.

Alongside these roles are a variety of opportunities to get involved in the committee in other ways, from social media promotion, fundraising events, to building and garden maintenance. We’re always looking for those keen to make our setting and our events that little bit more special!

The commitment
Volunteering for this committee offers you the chance to get out of it as much you put in – we welcome as much support and contribution as you can give!
The whole committee, with the setting Manager, Coordinator and Bookkeeper, meet every half-term and have our AGM in October. Staff are always welcome to attend too.
For more information about the roles and responsibilities, feel free to contact the Chair or come along to our AGM in October!
